First Aid Response (FAR) Training

Our First Aid Response (FAR) course qualifies employees as workplace First Aid Responders in accordance with the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) standard the requirement recognised by the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) for occupational first aid in Irish workplaces.

This course provides participants with the skills to assess a casualty, deliver first aid for injury and illness, and provide care until emergency medical services arrive. Suitable for all workplace environments, including offices, production, warehousing and remote sites.

Duration: 3 days (18 hours) | Certification: FAR certificate issued by a PHECC-recognised provider. | Validity: 2 years (A 2-day refresher is required before expiry to maintain certification) | Delivery: On-site or at our Cork Premises

Course Outcomes

Understand the role and responsibilities of a workplace first aider and the legal context in Ireland.

Perform a primary survey of a casualty, recognise life-threatening conditions and activate emergency services.

Manage choking, cuts, burns, fractures, shock, and other common emergencies.

Apply correct casualty positioning, monitoring, and care while awaiting medical assistance.

Manage a first aid incident safely, including scene awareness and casualty care until emergency services arrive.

Carry out appropriate first aid interventions in line with PHECC First Aid Response guidelines.

Receive a PHECC First Aid Response certificate, valid for two years, as evidence of completed training.

Demonstrate high-quality adult CPR and use an AED safely and confidently.

FAQ

How long is the First Aider Training course?

The course is delivered over 3 full days (approximately 18 hours), including practical skills training and assessment.

Yes — the course can be delivered onsite throughout Cork & Munster, scheduled to minimise disruption to your business.

Employees appointed as workplace first aiders or those with responsibility for providing first aid.

They will learn casualty assessment, CPR/AED use, managing choking, bleeding, shock, fractures, burns, scene safety and hand-over to emergency services.

To maintain valid First Aid Response certification, a FAR Refresher course must be completed before the certificate expires.
